The Orioles signed a veteran slugger recently, only it wasn't the one the fans were hoping for. While Detroit landed Prince Fielder, the Orioles came to terms with free agent Wilson Betemit. The deal for the versatile veteran was two years for $3.25 million with an option for a third year. If he remains with Baltimore for the duration of the three-year deal, it will be his second-longest stint with one club during his 10-year career. The former Braves' prospect has been a journeyman in his career, spending 2011 with Kansas City and Detroit. He batted .285 with eight home runs and 46 RBI in 97 games. Infielder Wilson Betemit and the Baltimore Orioles have agreed to a two-year, $3.25 million contract. The Orioles announced the deal with the free agent Tuesday and say it includes a vesting option for 2014. Betemit will receive a $500,000 signing bonus and earn $1 million this season and $1.75 million in 2013.
